3D Game Design in Roblox Studio with The Happy Code Club

Grades: 3+ Virtual Groups: 5 (max)
Suggested Technology Setup: A computer with zoom client installed, webcam, wifi connection, and in-person parent or adult to assist children with computer setup and support for 1st class. Headphones optional.
Class Description: Students embark on their journey in developing games with the powerful Roblox Studio Game Engine. Learn 3D modeling as it relates to game design through several game projects such as completing an obstacle course, designing a unique game world, learning how to model objects, and adding code to make the game characters and scenes come alive! Students will learn the basics of scripting in Lua to add gameplay elements like traps and other game features, including how to publish a completed game and adding elements that monetize a game. When projects are completed students may opt to play each other’s games and demonstrate their projects to each other on the last day of class. Kids keep access to their coding studio and games they created after the course ends.
Prerequisites: No coding or design experience is required. Dexterity with a scroll mouse is necessary.
