Pound Ridge Culture Quest

Pound Ridge Culture Quest, a new series featuring professionals from all disciplines of the arts, welcomes Creighton Michael, acclaimed sculptor, painter, curator and educator. Mr. Michael’s resume nationally and internationally is auspicious. His prestigious awards include a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in sculpture and a Golden Foundation for the Arts award in painting. His work is in various public and private collections such as the National Gallery of Art, Whitney Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the Neuberger Museum of Art. He has had solo exhibitions throughout the United States including Vanderbilt University, Colgate University and the Katonah Museum of Art as well as numerous galleries and art centers both nationally and internationally in Copehagen, Montreal and Reykjavik. As an educator, Mr. Michael has been on the faculty of several institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design and a Visiting Lecturer at several colleges and universities. In addition, he has conducted studio workshops throughout the United States. He has been a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Hunter College, a member of American Abstract Artists, on the Boards for the International Sculpture Center and the Katonah Museum of Art. Recently, his curatorial producer credits include The Art of Rube Goldberg, BLURRING BOUNDARIES: The Women of American Abstract Artists, 1936–Present and UNCHARTED: American Abstraction in the Information Age which opened in January, 2020 at the Hofstra Museum of Art.
