SUMMARY:Chakra Meditation Group
DESCRIPTION:Chakra Meditation Group Guided by Helena de Vengoechea Rudd \n \nJoin us at the Pound Ridge Library to help bring the chakras back into balance and assist you in moving forward with your day refreshed and ready to take on any challenge that may cross your path. \nThere are seven main chakras that run along the spine\, from the base to the crown of the head. Chakras are thought to receive\, digest\, and express energy. When chakras are in balance\, life energy can flow through them and connect you to the world around you. Some believe that chakras are spinning disks of energy that should stay open and aligned. Each chakra is associated with a specific area of the spine\, a color\, a number\, and a health focus. For example\, the crown chakra is associated with spiritual wisdom and empathy\, while the root chakra is associated with family\, abundance and remaining grounded.  You can learn more by attending this meditation practice.\nThis meditation group was inspired by the ladies of the Pound Ridge Working Mom’s Group. This group provides a networking and information sharing forum for women in the surrounding area who juggle family and work. \nPlease register below. Registration is limited. Registration guarantees a spot in the program. Registration does not guarantee a parking spot. The library encourages carpooling as much as possible. \n

SUMMARY:"How Many Children Had Lady Macbeth?"
DESCRIPTION:“How Many Children Had Lady Macbeth?”\nAnd Other Puzzles Of “The Scottish Play” \nWhy would Shakespeare write a play about the murder of a Scottish king and perform it before the newly-crowned Scottish king?\nWhy did Shakespeare wait 5 years after performing the play in front of King James to perform it for the public?\nWhy do professional (and amateur) actors always refer to it as “The Scottish Play”?\nHow did storms off the coast of Denmark lead to Shakespeare’s writing the play?\nHow is Macbeth completely different from the other “great” tragedies—Hamlet\, Othello\, and King Lear?\nWhy is the part of Lady Macbeth the most coveted female role in all of Shakespeare?\nWhat piece of the play was written by someone else years after the death of Shakespeare?                                      Shakespeare on the Sound board member and Shakespeare teacher John Love will talk about these and other Macbeth puzzles and show scenes from a movie version of the play. Whether a Shakespeare devotee or not\, you won’t want to miss this fascinating presentation!\n \nJohn Love joined the Shakespeare on the Sound board in 2019 and served as board president for 4 years. Starting with SOS first post-pandemic summer production of Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2021\, John has been doing book talks about the summer show and showing clips from movie versions for the last 5 years\, on King John\, As You Like It\, Romeo and Juliet\, and this summer’s Macbeth. John taught English for 40 years at private schools in Rhode Island\, Chicago\, and New York City\, and Shakespeare was a regular part of the curriculum in his classes. He has a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.                          Note:  you may want to attend Shakespeare on th Sound’s summer production of Macbeth in Rowayton\, June 11 – June 29. \nPlease register below.  Registration guarantees a spot in the program.
