DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special Storytime as we welcome Jessica Foglio\, founder of the STAR Foundation (Salla Treatment And Research)\, as our guest reader! \nJessica is the mother of 9-year-old Ben\, who lives with Salla Disease—an ultra-orphan rare genetic disorder. Amidst the challenges of Ben’s diagnosis\, Jessica founded A STAR FOR BEN\, a foundation that now supports 56 researchers and recently received the prestigious Chan-Zuckerberg RARE AS ONE Award. As the foundation continues to grow\, it has expanded its mission and is now proudly known as the STAR Foundation\, striving to represent and support all children living with Salla Disease. \nJessica will share the heartwarming children’s book Sami’s Smile\, which was inspired by a young girl named Sami who also has Salla Disease. Brady McCarthy is a 22-year-old young man with Down syndrome who lives in Chappaqua\, NY (formerly of Bedford\, NY). He is an artist\, author\, advocate\, and entrepreneur. His motto is “Believe You Can!” Together with his younger sister\, Alexx\, they wrote two SuperBrady books and created an online store: SuperBradyShop.com\, where they share Brady’s art on Wall Prints\, T-Shirts\, Tote Bags\, Books\, Games\, and Stickers. Brady’s mission is to spread the message that all people deserve to be included and that we all have more things in common than we have differences. By sharing his various talents\, he hopes to inspire children to see the abilities in themselves and others and to believe that anything is possible. Brady and Alexx’s book\, SuperBrady: A Story of Inclusion\, follows the life of a little boy born with Down syndrome as he uses his superpowers to make friends and to never give up! SuperBrady also gives tips on how anyone can become a Superhero of Inclusion by being kind and accepting to others. As part of BOCES Art in Education program\, Brady puts on assemblies for elementary school children throughout Westchester County\, where he shares his book and answers questions.  \n\nAll ages are welcome to this empowering celebration of diversity and the limitless potential of every individual! \n\nPlease register on library website. \nRegistration guarantees a spot in the program.
