The Children’s Room at the Pound Ridge Library has been completely reimagined as a woodland wonderland—an inviting, nature-inspired space designed to spark curiosity, independence, and joy. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to create an environment where children feel comfortable exploring, discovering, and returning again and again.
Designed for Discovery
The room is intentionally arranged to encourage self-guided exploration. Face-out shelving and browsing boxes highlight high-interest books, making it easy for children to find something that draws them in. The layout encourages self-exploration and independence, helping young readers build confidence as they choose their own paths through the collection.

Where Reading Meets Play
This is a space where literacy and play naturally come together. Interactive iPads offer access to hundreds of educational games, while the overall design invites hands-on engagement, creativity, and imagination. Children are not just visiting the library—they are actively experiencing it.
Inclusive by Design
Our Children’s Room is part of a broader commitment to serving all families. Just steps away, the Sensory Room provides a calming, supportive environment with tactile and interactive features designed especially for neurodivergent children. Inclusion is not an afterthought—it is built into the foundation of the space.
A Space That Grows With Your Child
From early storytime experiences to independent exploration, the Children’s Room evolves alongside each stage of childhood. It is a place to discover new interests, build confidence, and develop a lifelong connection to reading and learning.
