The Schaffner Community Room is available for meetings by local community groups and non-profit organizations and for art exhibitions. Use of the room for political or religious purposes, for memorial services, or for personal or private services (such as birthday parties) is not allowed.
The room measures 34′ long by 28′ wide, with a maximum capacity of 100 persons. An overhead projector, a full-size (8′ x 9′) screen and a hand-held microphone system are available for use. There is also a piano. Adjacent to the room is a small kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, sink and food-prep area.
For Meeting Organizers:
Please contact Marilyn Tinter at 914-764-5085 to see if the date you wish is available for your room use. A written application must be submitted beforehand to reserve the room. Groups using the room are requested to pay a fee of $60 to help defray Library maintenance expenses. When refreshments are served, there will be an additional $10 fee. All users are required to abide by the library’s General Policy and Responsibilities governing the use of the Schaffner Wing.
For Art Exhibitors:
The Schaffner Community Room is available for month-long exhibitions. Exhibitions normally run for six weeks. Receptions are usually held on the opening day, but may be permitted on other days at the discretion of the Library Director. The arrangements, costs and set up/clean up for any receptions held are the sole responsibility of the exhibitor.
Exhibitors must submit a written application to reserve the room. Exhibitors are requested to pay $70 if there is an opening reception to help defray the cost of the library’s maintenance. If there are sales, a 25% commission to the library is required. Exhibitors are also required to sign a General Release and Indemnity Form and abide by the Library’s General Policy and Responsibilities governing the use of the Schaffner Wing.
