An Adventure in Verse with Poet, Writer and Communicator Ira Joe Fisher.
Join us in observing National Poetry Month with poet Ira Joe Fisher! Mr. Fisher will read not only from his latest book of poetry, The Birth of Snow, but also will include a variety of his poems as well as treasures from other poets. A Q&A and discussion will follow with the audience invited to read their own poems! We invite you all to join us in an adventurous, entertaining poetry feast hosted by Ira Joe Fisher.
Ira Joe Fisher was born in the charming western New York village of Little Valley. His poetry has appeared in many periodicals through the years. He is the author of four verse collections and a book of essays. Ira presents readings and conducts poetry workshops in New York and New England. He has a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from New England College and has taught poetry and creative writing at the University of Connecticut, Stamford, Mercy University, and Founders Hall in Ridgefield. Ira has lectured at Manhattanville College and Keene State College in New Hampshire.
In June of 2023, Fisher was named Poet Laureate of Ridgefield, Connecticut.
Ira is a member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors’ Equity. He regularly performed in the long-running musical The Fantasticks. He appeared in the musical The Prince and the Pauper, in the reader’s theatre drama The Garden of Dromore at the New York University Hot Ink Festival. Ira also acted in the film “California Girls” and in the ABC daytime drama “Loving.” He was a regular on the CBS Early Show.
Ira and his wife, Shelly, live in Ridgefield.
