Creating Video Games from Scratch

December 16, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

How do game developers take an idea and turn it into the games we play, know, and love? A great place to start is by diving into the code! Coding requires students to analyze situations in order to achieve a desired outcome, translating directly to real-life problem-solving skills. Join MakeInspires as we get hands-on and create our own video games using Scratch and Scratch Jr – no prior coding experience required!
Scratch is a programming language which enables students to create interactive stories and games using drag and drop programming blocks. Program attendees will create a simple game, using variables, conditional statements and loops to bring their creation to life.
Younger attendees will find their stride with Scratch Jr, the precursor coding language to Scratch. ScratchJr is an introductory programming language which enables students to create interactive stories and games using drag and drop programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing… reading is optional!

Please register on library website.

Registration guarantees a spot in the program. Registration does not guarantee a parking spot. The library encourages carpooling as much as possible.
