Historic Gardens of Westchester

April 13 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm

We invite you to step into lush, magnificently designed gardens and experience a variety of historic eras and fascinating cultures – through a digital “visit” to some of Westchester’s fabulous public gardens. This 75-minute, richly illustrated presentation will include images both past and present of  the restored colonial gardens at the Jay family properties, the gilded age property of Lyndhurst, the serenity of the Japanese Stroll Gardens in North Salem and the impeccable Persian designs of Untermyer Park, and more. You’ll also meet (and thank!) the architects, the horticulturists, the philanthropists and the visionaries that made these spaces open to the public today.

An in-person presentation by Barbara Davis, the Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society, Barbara is responsible for the programming, publicity, and other operations of WCHS, which is the only organization that collects and promotes the countywide history of Westchester.  A resident of New Rochelle, she is also the New Rochelle City Historian, a position she has held since 2001, and is the former Community Relations Coordinator for the New Rochelle Public Library. Barbara  has served on Westchester County’s Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) since the early 1900s, and as chair for over 25 years.

Register Below.  Registration guarantees a spot in the program. Registration does not guarantee a parking spot. The library encourages carpooling as much as possible.
