Portraits & Possibilities: A Creative Workshop with The Bruce Museum. Join us for The Bruce Museum’s debut at the library during this special holiday week event!
Who are we really seeing when we look at a portrait? How do artists choose their subjects, and how does their portrayal shape the way we, as viewers, connect with the person on the canvas—or in the sculpture? This engaging, hands-on program invites participants to explore portraiture and figural representation across different time periods, styles, and materials. Through two- and three-dimensional works, we’ll look at how identity, expression, and creativity come together in art.
Participants will view inspiring examples, explore the artistic process from different perspectives, and then create their very own self-portrait to take home. All materials—paper, pencils, and colored pencils—will be provided by The Bruce Museum. Just bring your imagination!
Registration guarantees a spot in the program. Registration does not guarantee a parking spot. The library encourages carpooling as much as possible.
