Pound Ridge Library Book Group

The Pound Ridge library Book Club will meet a week later than usual on September 25.

This month we will be reading Yellowface by R. F. Kuang.

In this cutting novel by R.F. Kuang, authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to rise together, but when Athena dies in a freak accident, June seizes the opportunity. She steals Athena’s novel about Chinese laborers in WWI and passes it off as her own. But as June’s fame grows, so does the threat of her secret unraveling, pushing her to desperate measures.

Yellowface grapples with questions of diversity, racism, and cultural appropriation, as well as the terrifying alienation of social media.
