Sensory Storytime incorporates stories, songs, rhymes, group activities, sensory exploration, and crafts appropriate for all children including those with sensory/special needs.
Sensory Storytimes are more interactive and provide built-in time for sensory play, include freedom of movement with more visual aids, gentle action and sensory experiences. These Storytimes are also smaller, reducing the group size and noise level for those with sound sensitivity.
Sensory Storytime is ideal for kids who may have a shorter attention span.
Program leader Evelyn Carmichael, a retired special education teacher with a master’s degree in learning disabilities, has curated this storytime and activity program and welcomes children of all abilities to create an inclusive environment of joy and dignity.
We call it “My Wagon Way” – come and enjoy. For children 2 through 6 years old, accompanied by a caregiver.
