Women Through Women:Contemporary Female Portraiture

April 19 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Women Through Women:Contemporary Female Portraiture. A selected group exhibition of works by nine area women artists. Curated by artist Monique Ford.

Women Through Women brings together the work of Westchester and Connecticut based female artists to honor the sacred power of the female form. Some artists are instinctively drawn to the human body, particularly the female form, as a means of expressing their most direct and powerful narratives.

Whether approached from a documentary angle or interpreted through brushstrokes each artist shares a diverse range of stories, all seen through the female lens. The works in this collection are capable of being both intimate and profound, as well as lighthearted and whimsical, capturing the multifaceted nature of the female experience.

There is something inherently special and personal in the work of these artists: an intuitive, relational quality that reflects wisdom and a deep capacity for observation. It’s this unique ability to convey the sacred essence of womanhood that makes their work so powerful.

“Through this project, I hope to foster a vibrant, supportive community for these artists—a space where dialogue around the female form can flourish and inspire future collaborations and communities.”  Monique Ford.

These artists include: Gail Buggy, Tracy Burtz, Kelly Edwards, Marcy B. Freedman, Katie Goldberg, Monique Ford, Margaret Fox, Kate Marlowe and Jen Mullowney.

The show runs from March 18 through May 10.  A reception and Artist Talk will be held on Saturday,  April 19 at 3:00pm – 5:00pm.
