Is a book, DVD, audiobook, music CD, or document you wish to borrow or view not available at Pound Ridge Library? With your Pound Ridge Library Card, you can request your needed items from other Westchester County Libraries or from other libraries throughout the United States.
Requesting Items From Within the Westchester Library System
Pound Ridge Library is a participating library member of the Westchester Library System (WLS), a cooperative of 38 independent public libraries in Westchester County. Pound Ridge Library cardholders can access resources through WLS’s online public access catalog via their desktop, through the WLS mobile app, in person at the library, or by calling 914-764-5085. To request an item through WLS online, log in with your library card number and your PIN (the last 4 numbers of your telephone number on file) and place a “hold” to have the item sent to your desired pick-up library when they are available. WLS items are kept at the circulation desk for pick-up for up to 8 days. Items may be renewed online, but loan periods and renewal options are at the discretion of the loaning library.
Requesting Items from Libraries Outside of the Westchester Library System
WLS provides an InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Service which enables you to borrow print materials, such as books and magazine articles, as well as microfilm of old newspapers, from libraries outside of the Westchester Library System in the United States. Students, academics, writers, and researchers often find this service helpful for finding peer-reviewed articles and academic journals and magazines. To use WLS’s ILL Services, you must be a valid WLS library card holder in good standing with active borrowing privileges.
WLS does not charge for ILL Services, however, certain lending institutions may have loan policies that include charging fees or on-site-use-only restrictions. If a fee-charging library becomes the only source of the item you wish, you will be contacted for permission to proceed. You can cancel a request if you decline to pay the charge or do not want to use the material in the library.
The average time to obtain the materials is one to four weeks; some obscure materials may take longer to get. The time it takes depends on the availability of the materials requested, the location of the library, and staff situation of the owning libraries, and the type of delivery.
You may place an ILL request in person at the Pound Ridge Library, by calling 914-764-5085 or follow the appropriate link below to submit your request online. You must return the materials to the Pound Ridge Library.
