Exhibition “Six Feet” & 5 Artist’s Works & Bios
MOIM is a community of contemporary Korean American artists with a mission to further
and support the development of each other’s works.
Throughout this global pandemic, we have heard many heartbreaking stories of hardship and
loss from all over the world. We have also heard some heartwarming accounts of people giving selflessly to those suffering from Covid-19 and others in need.
During these challenging times, MOIM has tried to stay true to its identity as active and engaged artists, so as not to lose sight of our creative visions while we were all forced to spend
more time in our homes.
Each month we met on Zoom to discuss, share, express, encourage, and learn from each other. We all grew as people – we learned to appreciate what we have and what we can offer to
the world as artists. As artists, we possess the unique ability to give visual form and expression to the experience of lockdowns and restrictions. “6 Feet” is the result of such efforts.
“Six feet” is no longer an abstract measure of distance. It has become an emotionally, psychologically, physically, and socially charged distance that we all have come to experience in
our own ways.
Jong Henry Kim: BIOGRAPHY
Jong Henry Kim, born in South Korea is a contemporary artist based in Connecticut.
He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with the major in Painting and his MFA from Pratt Institute with the major in New form art
which was a new genre of art in the late 1990s.
With his multi-disciplinary trainings as an artist, Henry has created his work in
various mediums including paintings, drawings, sound, digital, video installations
and Kinetic sculptures.
With the mix of traditional and unconventional mediums, Henry has developed
his own visual language combined with unique storytelling.
For number of years, Henry focused on social and political issues as his subject
matter and painted things that he wish it did not happen.
However his interest has been shifted to mundane things that are near around him
after being diagnosed with cancer.
With his physical limitation during the recovery time, Henry chose light weigh
materials like crayons and papers and start creating daily sketches which evolved
into “Near Me” series that consists of daily visual documentations.
Henry currently lives and works in Redding, CT on the property once used to be
the flower barn of a legendary photographer Edward Steichen.

Jihye Baek: BIOGRAPHY
Jihye Baek is an artist and photographer born in 1986 in Seoul, South Korea. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Kingston University in England
and a Master’s Degree from Pratt Institute in New York, U.S.A. Currently
residing in New Jersey, U.S.A, she works on photography and mixed-media

Ji Eun Lim: BIOGRAPHY
Ji Eun Lim is an artist-educator based in New York from South Korea. As an
artist, she became aware of the artistic potential of cardboard as a used material
through her thesis research and teaching art in NYC. She recognized the infinity of
using “used cardboard.” Cardboard was the material that stimulated her students to
make their creations playfully. This motivated her to collect cardboard to create her
visual narrative. During the progress of her work, she intensively contemplated herself as a human, artist, and art educator. Her inspiration is also expressed with other
media, painting on canvas and wood, from 2021.
As an art educator, she pursues to motivate students to explore their self-awareness
through her teaching art. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art for
Communication Design at Hong-ik University and a Master of Education for Fine
Arts Education at Kyung-hee University in Korea. Before studying abroad in the
States, she taught visual arts and art history for five years in many private art studios and public schools. She earned her second master’s degree––Master of Arts
in Teaching, Art Education––at School of Visual Arts in NYC. Since 2018, she has
been teaching diverse art lessons integrated with multi-disciplines such as science,
history, social studies, and other cultures in New York. She dedicates herself to not
only her artwork but also to her students and colleagues by sharing her art creation,
teaching, and diverse cultural experiences that she has gained in Korea and the U.S.

Donghyun Rhee: BIOGRAPHY
Donghyun Rhee is born in Korea and Baltimore, Maryland based sculptor . He
focuses metal welding on his sculpture.
He believes life and death exist simultaneously.
Inspired by Dolman and ancient monuments(memorial statues), he has been
making door/doorway and columns.
His work is about the moment where life and death entangled. The moment he
catches in his work shares a lot of thoughts of one’s being.
He does not have notable achievements yet his artwork will bring profound emotional response to people.
Sunhee Yoon: BIOGRAPHY
Born in Seoul, Korea, Sunhee Yoon currently lives and works in NJ. Sunhee
recieved her MFA from the Pratt Art Institute. She is an environmental installation artist and art educator. She has exhibited her work in United States(NY,
NJ), Korea and Germany.
