Harriet Shenkman’s poetry collection captures the circular nature of life. Reading from “Wonder Wheel”, she both recalls her ancestors and rears her children in these poems-alongside its unpredictability.
Harriet Shenkman is the current Poet-in-Residence at the JCC of Mid Westchester. She is a professor emerita at City University of New York. Her poetry awards include the Women’s National Book Association Annual Contest and the Women Who Write International Poetry Contest.
Joining her will be poet Suzanne Cleary. Her most recent books are Crude Angel and Beauty Mark which won the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry, the Nassar Poetry Prize, and the Paterson Award for Literary Excellence. Recipient of a Pushcart Prize and the Cecil Hemley Memorial Award of the Poetry Society of America. Her poems appear in anthologies including Best American Poetry.
