The American Library Association (ALA) has selected James (Doubleday) by Percival Everett as the winner of the 2025 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, and A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon (Scribner) by Kevin Fedarko as the winner of the 2025 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in NonFiction. Check them out today at Pound Ridge Library.

BCSD Pre-Kindergarten Program: The Bedford Central School District (BCSD) will be offering a full-day, tuition-free Pre-K program for eligible 4-year-old children selected through a lottery process for the 2025-26 school year. This program is being funded through a Pre-K Expansion grant awarded to BCSD by the New York State Department of Education and is contingent upon grant and budget funding.
Age and Residency Requirements: To apply, students must reside within the BCSD attendance area and must turn 4-years-old between December 2, 2024 through December 1, 2025. Students who are age-eligible for Kindergarten cannot apply for the Pre-K lottery as per NYSED regulations.
Locations and Total Number of Spots: There are a total of 47 slots for Pre-K students.
- Bedford Hills Elementary School: 18 slots
- Mount Kisco Elementary School: 18 slots
- Boys and Girls Club in Mount Kisco: 6 slots
- Country Childrens Center in Bedford Hills: 5 slots
Learn more about the locations: There will be a virtual location info session on February 12 at 6:30pm. A link will be shared with lottery applicants and a recording will be posted here after the event.
