Come visit our bright and cheerful Children’s Room! Cozy up with your new favorite book in one of our oversized bean bag chairs or challenge yourself to one of our interactive games – there’s always something fun to do in the Children’s Room.
Our full-time Children’s Librarian is dedicated to nurturing your child’s love of reading and learning and is always eager to help your child find the perfect book for their age group, reading level, interests, or school project. The Library has a large collection of children’s picture books, board books, beginning readers, beginning chapter books, fiction books, non-fiction books, graphic novels, audiobooks on CD, magazines, DVDs, and parenting and reference materials. The room has comfy reading nooks perfect for curling up with a great book (or two).
In addition to a wide range of media to browse and borrow, we offer many activities for exploration and learning for children from Pre-K through Grade 5. Younger children love our large selection of educational toys like chunky wooden puzzles, puppets, hands-on interactive toys, and stacking blocks. Older elementary-school-aged children enjoy our classic and contemporary board games, building toys, like Legos and Lincoln Logs, and our interactive computer games. We also have plenty of coloring and activity books for rainy (and sunny) day fun.
In the center of the Children’s Room is our computer station which has two laptops and 2 iPads for public use. The two laptops are loaded with learning software for children Pre-K through Grade 5 with skill-building games in reading and phonics, music and art, and writing and computer skills. Our iPads have educational games and older children’s favorites like Scratch Junior and Angry Birds.
